The hybrids NSSC-201, NSSC-475 and NSSC-640 were used for parallel researches. The effect of mowing date on the productive and quality traits was taken into account for the analysis of the results. The hybrid NSSC-640 had the highest yield, while NSSC-201 displayed the lowest one. Mowing done later on led to a yield decrease by 1.66 t/ha (1993) and by 1.45 t/ha (1994) as for the hybrids studied. The studied hybrids proved significantly high differences in dry matter content, ranging from 30.3 (NSSC-640) to 38.7 (NSSC-201). At full waxy ripening stage, dry matter content increased significantly, when compared to milk waxy maturity. The mowing performed later caused raw fatty matter content increase and that of NFE, whereas the ash, protein and cellulose content declined in the green matter.
