These soils were identified as Khao Yoi series, Samut Songkhram series and Kamphaeng Saen series (3 location) with dovious salinity effect. These are Inceptisols and Alfisols having low to moderate profile development. They have high soluble bases. These can be considered as saline-sodic soils and the sodicity and salinity effect can be high in all season year round. The most serious effect is in dry season. Two types of distribution of these salt affected soil were recognized. One is the low land area influenced by recent and present day marine deposits. Another is on upland area having a North-South trend. Results of fertility capability assessment, the present land use of Khao Yoi and Samut Songkhram series for paddy rice cultivation is up to their potential. For Kampaeng saen series area 1 and 2, improvement of soil condition is needed to reduce the effect of salinity and sodicity. For Kamphaeng Saen series area 3, lacking of available moisture and low nutrient adsorption are problems needed to be ameliorated along with the occasional problem on salt effect. Increasing its organic matter content, nevertheless, may reduce its problem on crop production.
