There were studied the influence of long-term application of mineral and organic fertilizers (beef manure and corn stalks) on the phosphate and lime potentials of a calcareous chernozem and thereby on the form of calcium phosphate that determines phosphorus concentration in the soil solution. Soil samples from a long-term experiment of the Corn Institute near Belgrade (Yugoslavia) were used for these tests. In regard to the form of calcium phosphate that determines phosphorus concentration in the soil solution, the majority of experimental variants are intermediate between hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate, with predominance of the latter form. The unfertilized variant (control) and variants with corn-stalks (without application of mineral fertilizers) are intermediate between fluorapatite and hydroxyapatite, with dominance of hydroxyapatite.
