A grassland situated on alluvial soil was fertilized with 120-600 kg of N, 39-67 kg of P and 199-300 kg of K per ha. After 10 years of fertilization a strong exhaustion of magnesium and copper of the soil was found. High ammonium nitrate rates led to heavy acidification of soil. The P and K rates amounting to 39 and 199 kg/ha, respectively, appeared to be insufficient for the highest yields, more than 10 tons of dry matter per ha.
