1992
Zhi Qiang Zhang
The cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover, is a major pest of cotton in China. More than 48 species (belonging to 19 families in 9 orders) of natural enemies of this aphid have been found in cotton fields in China. Coccinellids, spiders and lacewings are the most important predators of aphids and other pests in cotton fields. The biology of these natural enemies is reviewed. Also discussed are the roles of coccinellids and other predators in the biological control of A. gossypii through conservation and augmentation.
