Significant differences were found regarding plant height, number of kernels per plant, 1000-kernel mass and kernel yield per plant among the investigated soybean varieties and hybrids of the F1 and F2 generations. Genes with additive and non-additive effect had a significant role in the inheritance of the investigated properties. The best general combiners for most properties were Fiskeby and Hodgson varieties. The highest values of the specific combining abilities for number and yield of kernels per plant was with Fiskeby x Corsoy hybrid.
