The paper describes the results of the research carried out during the 1984-1985 period, concerning the growing systems and the plant densities for the early tomato crops. The authors present the weather and soil conditions, the phenological data for the two studied hybrids (Export II and IH-50) and the influence of the plants set-ups (densities) on the early and total yields, according to the hybrid. The results have shown that the highest yields have been obtained at the density of 75,000 plants/ha, both for Export II and for IH-50.
