About 450 samples of stored apples were analysed and all of them were infested by mites. The mean number of mites per one apple was 116.4 specimen (maximum - 870 mites per sample). Location of mites on the apples is very characteristic. The calyx and penducle hollows of fruit are natural microhabitats most often and numerously occupied by mites associated with stored apples. Pretty often they gather in cavieties and damages caused by insects and diseases but almost never on the smooth and uncovered surface of cuticule of fruit which is practically free of mites.
