A trial was undertaken with the purpose to evaluate the use of triticale grain as a substitute of corn in ration for laying hens at starting and growing phases, considering productive parameters. 500 Hubbard Golden Comet chickens arranged in a complete random design with five treatments and four replicates of 25 each one. The levels of triticale were 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% for treatment 1, 2, 3, 4 y 5, respectively. There is a tendency to a greater food consumption and a reduction on the efficiency of the food utilization with increasing amount of triticale in the rations. However, live body weight variations did not follow the same pattern. No statistically differences were found among the first four treatments. Only the 100% of corn replacement by triticale showed a lower body weight which differed statistically from the other treatments (P<= 0,05). No differences were detected in relation to the age at starting date and the age production percentage among the treatments. The incorporation of triticale as ingredient for poultry did not affect the digestion process neither the mortality. According to the results it is feasible the use of triticale as a substitute up to 100% of corn for laying hens at the starting and growing phases. For the other productive parameters the percentage of replacement will depend on the price of the two grains.
