Field test of IBD modified live-virus (MLV) vaccine prepared from CEF-adapted 2512-B strain was carried on in the breeding flocks. In order to determine the immunizing efficacy, the chickens at 1 day and 4 weeks of age were vaccinated individually with 0.02, 0.04, 0.1 and 0.2 ml of vaccine, corresponding to 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10000 EID50 of MLV respectively. The results showed that intramuscular vaccination is superior to intranasal route or eye-instilling method. Following vaccination with the MLV vaccine, no clinical signs and histological lesions in the bursae of vaccinated chickens have been found. The test suggested that the vaccine is highly immunogenic and safe under field conditions.
