Spray irrigation appeared to be the treatment which significantly increased the grain yield. Both highest yields and their most substantial rise caused by irrigation were observed after fertilization with the following high nitrogen doses: for brewery barley 60 kg/ha, fodder barley 100-120 kg/ha and spring wheat 125-150 kg/ha. Spray irrigation was found to increase considerably the grain shape and therefore allowed to obtain barley suitable for brewing. It also improved some indexes of baking quality of spring wheat. The highest nitrogen fertilization, independently from water variant, increased the yield to much less extent than irrigation. Its effect on the grain quality was also smaller and in general different from the one found for irrigation.
