The present work was designed to study the thyroid activity during different phases of oestrous cycle in the Muzaffarnagari sheep. It seemed that the oestrogen peak triggers the thyroid activity as observed around the day of oestrus in some species. A greater depression as observed on day 16 of the cycle in the present study when the circulating oestrogen level must have been at its lowest status, further substantiates this contention.
