This paper presents the obtained data about the occurrence of weeds in sugar beet crops and the effect of herbicide combinations on the weeds and on the yield of the crop. At the beginning of sugar beet vegetation the annual broad-leaved weeds are always present to a greater extent and the annual narrow-leaved weeds are always present too, but to a smaller extent. All investigated herbicide combinations showed great weed killing efficiency at the beginning of sugar beet vegetation. The weed killing efficiency at the beginning of vegetation was not increased by additional application of herbicides after crop sprouting. Only with the basic treatment with these herbicide combinations a satisfactorily lasting effect on the weeds in chernozem soil can be achieved until the end of sugar beet vegetation. The best results are achieved with the application of Ro-Neet+Pyramin combination before sowing, with direct incorporation in the surface soil layer. The application of the combination of Dual+Nortron+Pyramin or Venzar before sprouting has a satisfactory effect. The additional after crop sprouting application of herbicides on the basic treatment before sowing led even to the decrease of the yield of roots when Nortron was used in reduced quantities in this period. Good results, regarding the yield of sugar per ha, are achieved by the application of Ro-Neet+Pyramin before sowing, with direct incorporation. Additional application of the combination with Nortron after sprouting also showed the tendency of negative effects on the yield of sugar.
