It was found that in young pine cultures a high moving activity was demonstrated by the cockchafers in the afternoon, in the evening and at night. The greatest intensification of the activity was noted from the moment of sun set to the dusk. In the period of the experiment during 80-90 percent of the total time, the cockchafers were hidden in places where light did not reach. Some individuals remained under the soil surface without any break for several weeks. The live pine trees served as food only occassionally and it was not always accepted by the cockchafers.
