Florasulam is a broad-leaved weed herbicide discovered by Dow AgroSciences. It belongs to the triazolopyrimidine family and is an ALS [acetolacta synthase] inhibitor. Florasulam is selective of Autumn and Spring wheat, barley, rye, oat and triticale. The sensitive weeds are Galium aparine, Matricaria spp, Stellaria media, Papaver rhoes and cruciferae. The registered rate of florasulam is 75 g ai per ha. At a longer rate, florasulam can easily enter in a program or a tank mix for a complete integrated management of the grasses and broad-leaved weeds in cereals. Florasulam has an excellent environmental and toxicological profile with a short half life in soil and water.
