In a pot-scale experiment influence of peat additive in soil with various contents of fly ash from the copper smelter (0; 1; 2; 10; 25; 50 and 100%) on early development stages of barley has been investigated. Results of these investigations show a detrimental influence - particularly high contents of heavy metals contained in ash - on length of roots and weight of plants. Moreover, reduction of activity of the cellulolytic microorganisms in soil has been observed. The past additives to the soils with ash admixtures have considerable positive influence on plants because of acceleration of germination, rise of height and weight of barley. (Author).
