The investigation was done on 800 one day chicks of the heavy hybrid Hybro during fattening period of 49 days. Animals were fattened in intensive and half-intensive conditions. Two repetitions of the trial were done i.e. fattening was performed in two seasons (spring and summer). On the basis of results it may be concluded that fattening intensity had significant influence on daily gain, feed conversion and broiler chick mortality. With intensive fattening conditions animals had higher daily gain and mortality percentage and better feedstuff utilization per kg of gain - compared with chick kept in half-intensive conditions. Additionally, there was no marked influence of the season on fattening traits in broiler chicks observed. It may be concluded that the tendency for "return to the nature" in poultry rearing can be accepted, but with some corrections by using appropriate fattening and feeding technologies.
