The development of a Sphaeropsis sapinea attack on a stand of radiata pine was followed by monthly observations during a year in four plots of 1 ha. New diseased trees appeared in every control with a peak in late fall to early winter; symptoms varied from shoot blight to complete wilting of the crown; the disease occurred in dominant trees as well as suppressed trees.
