Changes in total biomass, botanical composition and diet quality, in a native pasture (B community) of the Salado River Basin (Buenos Aires Province), under three grazing systems: spring-summer rest (SSR, November, December and January); fall rest (FR, April, May and June) and continuous grazing (CG), were evaluated. The total experimentation period considered was: October 1979 to August 1981. Total aerial biomass accounted in during SSR period was 3750 kg. DM ha-1. In the same period, warm season species biomass was increased, principaly Paspalum dilatatum and Bothriochloa laguroides. During FR treatment, total aerial biomass experimented no significant changes. However, cool-season (CS) species were promoted: Poa spp., Stipa spp. CG treatment determined a moderate grazed pasture with total aerial biomass oscillating around 2000 kg. DM ha-1 through the experimental period. Warm-season and cool-season species did not suffer damages. Also, Sporobolus indicus increased during this treatment. Anual and seasonal variations significantly conditioned the in vitro organic matter digestibility and nitrogen content values.
