The production and quality signs on 9 black, red and white currant varieties were observed. The morphogenesis was observed on 2 blackcurrant varieties - Otelo and Favorit. The experiments were made in Nitra, at the University of Agriculture, in the conditions of the Department of Horticulturae and Agrometerology experimental base in 1991-1994. It was found that the most important morphogenetical processes of the evaluated black currant primary inflorescence are taking place in July (3rd-4th stage of organogenesis) and the secondary inflorescences in August and September. This results necessitates the change of the black currant growing technology. The variety Otelo has the highest number of flower buds on the sprout. The variety Favorit has the highest number of flowers in the primary inflorescence, the highest number of the secondary inflorescences and longer spring fruitful part. This morphogenetical sign was stimulated by supplementary irrigation. We found that the variety Otelo had higher production than the variety Favorit. The highest production of currant assortment came from the white currant, then red and black currant. The supplementary irrigation positively influenced the production, which became 20 % higher. The highest sugar and vitamin C came from the black currant (212.17 mg.100 g** (-1)), lower was the white and the lowest one, the red currant. The supplementary irrigation increased the sugar and vitamin C content.
