Effect of zinc stress in Japanese mint as related to growth, photosynthesis, chlorophyll contents and secondary plant products - the monoterpenes.
1992
Misra A.
Net photosynthetic rate, protein and chlorophyll contents and nitrate reductase activity were correlated with Zn nutrition in Japanese mint (Mentha arvensis). Zn nutrition had a positive correlation (r2 = 0.846) with dry matter yield and menthol content in the growing stage. A maximum dry matter production, plant height, leaf length number of branches and total oil content were obtained at 0.05 g(Zn)/m3. The deficient and toxic levels of Zn in nutrient solution decreased the menthol and total oil contents and herb yield.
