The structure and equations of the model are described. Inputs are costs and characteristics of available feedstuffs, present characteristics of cattle, target carcass characteristics and use of growth promotants and-or fermentation modifier. Outputs include composition of least-cost diet and target liveweight. The microcomputer programme is in Pascal and runs under CP-M 80, CP-M 86, MS-DOS or PC-DOS.
