Glufosinate-ammonium: an effective herbicide for weed control in plantation crops and non-crop areas in the Philippines.
1987
Pamplona P.P.
Glufosinate-ammonium at rates of 0.3 to 2.5 kg ai/ha controlled 50 weed species in rubber, oil palm, coffee, cacao, and citrus. It was also effective in controlling weeds in roadsides, irrigation dikes, rice leaves, and surroundings of industrial sites. The effect of glufosinate-ammonium on weed species varied according to the rate at which it was applied. Perennial grasses such as Imperata cylindrica and Sorghum halepense required a high rate of 2.0 kg ai/ha for the initial application followed by 1 to 2 touch-ups of 1% for effective control. Most annual weeds were effectively controlled at the rates of 0.3 to 0.6 kg ai/ha. The duration of weed control was also influenced by the rate of application. I. cylindrica was effectively controlled for 96 days at rate of 2.0 kg ai/ha and 116 days at 2.5 to 3.0 kg ai/ha.
