In this research 22 local melon populations originating from different sea levels were examined. According the earliness they have been grouped: early populations (up to 80 days), mid early (81-110 days) and late populations (above 110 days). Regarding yield, variability is very high. The variability coefficient is up to 40.75. Large distinctions in morphological characteristics of the leaves and stems are concluded. In 16 populations andromonoecious flowers are dominant, whereas in 6 populations monoecius flowers are present. There is high variability coefficient in the fruit weight and shape and relatively high variations in absolute seed mass and dry matter content.
