In order to safeguard security of title, any land reallocation in agricultural zones is based on a preceding land valuation. The main focus of this publication is to extend the concept of productivity appraisal by including broader socio-economic and ecological values. The describing conception is based on the results of a study carried out by the Institute for Land Improvement and Water Management of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (Switzerland). In the spring of 1996 the extended land valuation concept was tested in two reallocation trials in the canton of Aargau. The findings showed that no dramatic extra work was involved.
