Lack of water availability can be a major problem for the seed growing. Seed is a reproduction unit of plant that brings all of genetic factors that will appear on a new generation. The objective of this experiment is to study drought tolerance of some genotypes of soybean by using seed germination test on a high osmotic pressure medium, and field growing test. The high osmotic pressure was made of 0.18 M NaCl. In the lab., the drought tolerance was evaluated by measuring maximum germinability, germination speed, strong normal seedling, and dry-weight of normal seedling. In the field, drought tolerance was evaluated by measuring stem length, leaf number, leaf area, pod number, and shoot dry-weight. The result showed that GH-04, GH-07, Orba, Ringgit, and Galunggung were high drought tolerant genotypes; Americana and Hitam were medium drought tolerant genotypes; and GH-09, Kerinci, No.11, Wilis, Lokon, Shakti, Presi, and M-28 were low drought tolerant genotypes.
