Trichinellosis is widespread among several wild animal species in Estonia. The human invasion with Trichinella sp. was caused by wild animal meat, which had not undergone any veterinary check-up. In 1994 trichinellosis in pigs was diagnosed for the first time in Estonia. It was found in 3 pigs in Hiiumaa. In Department of Parasitology, EAU Trichinella positive material was analysed. Diaphragm, apex linguae, corpus linguae and radix linguae, m.masseter, m.temporalis, m.gastrocnemius, m.extensor carpi radialis, m.semimembranosus, m.pectoralis profundus and m.brachiocephalicus were examined. To study the muscle samples the compressor method and artificial digestion method were used. Most infected with Trichinella sp. were diaphragm, tongue. M. semimembranosus was not so much infected.
