Preliminary evaluation of potato clones in the highland resulted in the selection of 15 clones during the early dry season (December 1991 to February 1992) and 18 clones during the late dry season (February to April 1992). The low number of selected clones was attributed to the good performance of the check variety Granola. Lowland evaluation in Ilocos Norte [Philippines] resulted in the selection of 18 clones in four-hill, 32 in ten-hill and 14 in thirty-hill plots. In Cagayan, 29 clones were selected in four-hill, 36 in ten-hill and 11 in thirty-hill plots. NVJ 319-15 was selected in all three locations indicating its stability across location and adaptation to wide environment. Seven clones and varieties gave a computed potential yield of 25 t and above in the high elevation replicated yield trial in La Trinidad, Benguet [Philippines]. Four clones outyielded the check variety Granola but the mean differences were not statistically significant. The low elevation replicated yield trial in Iguyig, Cagayan [Philippines] gave a relatively low potential yield of 7.2 t/ha with only Banahaw and Rebus-7 yielding 10 t and above.
