Tejada, A. W. | Varca, L. M.
The rapid test kit for the detection of organophosphate, carbonate and pyrethroid pesticides was promoted to various target clientele through information and extension by conduct of trainings/ workshops to show the merits of the technology as a rapid testing tool in the field to complement the laboratory analysis for pesticide residue detection. The participants composed of extension workers from LGUs [Local Government Units], agricultural technicians, researchers and faculty members of SCUs [State Colleges and Universities] were also trained on the proper technique of its application and taught how to make recommendation according to the result of the tests. At the end of the training each participant received one complimentary unit each of the test kit for organophosphate and carbamate pesticides. The participants were expected to report on their findings on the extent of pesticide residues in their locality and provide feedback on the application and impact of the test kits on the use of pesticides. Information, education and communication materials were designed for the promotion of the rapid test kit technology to the various clienteles including the users of the technology, the field technicians and extension workers. The leaflet was revised to update the information and to suit the needs of the potential users.
