Content of heavy metals in selected species of edible mushrooms on detail sale in Lodz region

The article presents results of research on content of heavy metals in three species of edible mushrooms: Boletus edulis, Xerocomus badius, Leccinum rufum. All of these were bought in local market in Lodz region. The technique used to determine the content of cadmium and lead was atomic absorption spectrometry, while total mercury content by using AMA 254 analyzer. The results of research show, that Boletus edulis accumulate heavy metals in the highest concentrations. It was also discovered, that wild mushrooms are exceptionally strong source of heavy metals, but since that their share in the daily diet is rather small, they do not seem to be a threat to the health safety of the consumer
