The aim of this study was to determine the influence of the energy supplement on the basis of propylene glycol on the values of the parameters of the metabolic profile of cows in the periparturient period. Fifteen days before calving, 40 cows were selected, which are divided into two groups: control (n = 20) and experimental (n = 20). Cows in the experimental group was 15 days before calving to 30 days after calving was added to food preparation, OSIMOL (Veyx-Pharma GmbH, Germany). Blood samples were taken 15 days before and 10 days after calving. They immediately after blood tests determined the concentration of glucose and beta-hydroxy-butyric acid (BHBA). In the blood serum was assayed for total protein, albumin, urea and total bilirubin. The cows involved in the experiment in antepartal period did not significantly differ between the average values of measured parameters of metabolic profile. After parturition in cows of the control group was established hypoglycemia (x = 1.93 +/- 0:43 mmol/L), and cows of the experimental group blood glucose was at the upper physiological limit (x = 3:13 +/- 0:33 mmol/L). The concentration of BHBA in cows that received the Osimol was 0:40 +/- 0.12 mmol/L, while the control group of cows was significantly higher (p is less than 0.001) and the average was 0.88 +/- 0:39 mmol/L. Besides the cows of the experimental group serum total bilirubin was within normal values (x = 4:09 +/- 1:42 mmol/L), while the cows of the control group this value was significantly higher (p is less than 0.05).
