Walnut blight is caused by bacteria Xanthomonas arboricola pv. juglandis (Pierce 1901) Vauterin, Hoste, Kersters and Swings 1995 (X. a. pv. juglandis). The disease is present in most walnut production areas. Although walnut cultivars are differently susceptibile, climatic conditions can play a major role in disease development.
