The publication analyzes issues of fast-growing trees - mostly basket willow (Salix viminalis L.) cultivated in warm agro-climatic macroregion in Slovak Republic. The main aim is to highlight the current situation in the European Union (planned increase in the share of renewable energy resources, where the European Commission committed by 2010 to double their share from 6% in 1995 to 12% of total consumption). The work describes the technology of production, demands on the agro-ecological conditions, and methods of harvesting and processing of basket willow biomass in details. The impact of this fast-growing woody plant on the environment is also mentioned. Three harvest cycles of biomass from experimental plots of the plant in Dolna Malanta near Nitra (Slovak Republic) are evaluated in the main body of work. The picture attachments from the locality are included at the end of the work as well as some other illustration photos.
