英语. Drying is a process commonly used to decrease the high moisture content of newly-harvested medicinal and aromatic plants to their safe storage moisture content (9-11 %, wb). The main target of drying process is to complete drying in the shortest time as possible by consuming less energy and keeping product quality high. 15 kg chopped basil materials were dehydrated by using the contact dryer in each trial. The contact dryer which has a drying table, a mobile mixing/aeration car, a control unit and two water heaters/tanks transfers heat to the drying materials by conduction and convection.

Kurutma, tıbbi ve aromatik bitkilerin hasat sonrası sahip oldukları yüksek nem içeriğinden güvenli depolama son nem seviyesine ( % 9-11 yb) düşürmek için yaygın olarak kullanılan bir işlemdir. Kurutma işleminin ana hedefi, ürün kalitesinde herhangi bir bozulmaya imkan vermeden ürün nemini en kısa sürede ve en az enerji harcayarak son nem değerine düşürmektir. 15 kg kıyılmış reyhan bitkisi doğrudan değmeli kurutucuda farklı kurutma şartlarında kurutulmuştur. Bir adet kurutma masası, bir adet hareketli karıştırma/havalandırma arabası, iki adet elektrikli sus ısıtıcı/depo ve bir adet kontrol ünitesinden meydana gelen doğrudan değmeli kurutucu ürüne kurutma için gerekli enerjiyi ısı iletimi ve taşınımı yöntemleriyle aktarmaktadır. Depolarda ısıtılan sıcak su kurutma masası tabanına monte edilen ve bakır borudan yapılmış serpantin içerisinde dolaştırılarak kurutma yapılmıştır.
