Mauritania - Second Mining Sector Capacity Building Project - Additional Financing

This Additional Financing Project will contribute to all three of the existing aims of the Mauritania Second Mining Sector Capacity Building Project (PRISM2). It will: (1) Build up and consolidate the Government's long term institutional and technical capacity to manage the country's mineral resources, including social and environmental management; 2) promote private investment in the mineral sector; and 3) improve mineral sector contribution to national and regional socioeconomic development. The additional financing project will be implemented using the same framework and arrangements as for the original project, through the PRISM2 Project Implementation Unit. All new activities are expected to be implemented by March 2009, the original PRISM2 closing date.
