Pests of hot peppers include mole crickets, cut worms, the pepper flower moth, fruit piercing bugs, aphids, scales, mealy bugs, white flies, thrips and mites. Most pests occur during the dry season and are not economically significant on a national level. However, the recently recorded wet season mite Polyphagotarsonemus latus has become a serious threat to pepper production. Management of this mite incorporates a number of cultural practices and judicious use of pesticides.
