EVALUATION OF ALUMINUM-COATED WIRES AS REINFORCEMENT FOR ARTICULATED CONCRETE MATTRESSES; BASIC PROGRAM
2006
Pepper, Leonard
A laboratory study was conducted to evaluate the possible use of aluminum-clad wires as a corrosion-resistant reinforcement for articulated concrete mattresses as compared to the copper-clad wires presently used. Corrosion resistance of spring steel and stainless steel wires was also determined. The aluminum-clad wires were found to be readily and severely attacked by alkaline media such as normally found both in concrete and in the Mississippi River.
