MILOCMED 1968: A Drogue Experiment in the Ionian Sea. Part 1. The Temperature Time Series
1972
Dahme, Adolf | de Haen, Andre
During an oceanographic survey made in the Ionian Sea between 15 May and 5 June 1968, temperature profiles were obtained every three minutes by means of free-drifting, self-recording drogues equipped with 60 m long thermistor chains. The gathering and processing of two of these time series, one covering a period of 17 days and one a period of 4 days, are described. The results reported include an indication of an oceanographic front in the area that causes sharp horizontal changes in the temperature structure both above and below the thermocline.
