Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Above Water Bow Shape on Flare Slamming and Deck Wetness Forces
1992
Jones, Harry D.
The Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center undertook to experiment ally determine the effects of above water bow shape on vertical flare slam and deck wetness loadings. A modern naval combatant was selected as the parent hull form and six variations in the above water bow shape were investigated. It is shown that significant variations in the flare slam forces occur with changing bow shape while deck wetness forces remain relatively constant.
