Study of Residual Stresses and Distortion in Structural Weldments in High-Strength Steels
1980
Papazoglou, Vassilios J. | Masubuchi, Koichi
Experimental results on temperature, strain, and distortion during welding HY-130 steel are presented. The geometries include 1 inch thick plates and 0.75 inch cylindrical shells. Welding was performed using the gas metal arc, electron beam and laser processes. The experimental results are compared with predictions made by computer programs. Finally, through thickness distributions of residual stresses obtained using the Rosenthal-Norton sectioning technique are presented.
