The analysis of a deep-marine system relies heavily on the identification of the type and distribution of architectural elements(e.g. channels, lobes) within the system. Nowadays, lobes are intensively studied because of their hydrocarbon potential, therefore,the right and accurate identification of this element is necessary. The area between Piwniczna-Zdroj and Muszyna of the Western OuterCarpathians, Poland, gives a good example of a well-identified ancient lobe of turbidite system. Mainly massive sandstones weremapped during sedimentological research. All the features of the studied sediments from this area (e. g. compensation cycles, normalgrading) highly indicate an environment of the turbidite lobe
