Since 2007 in order to create a new variety of winter forage pea at the Institute of forage crops breeding program is carried out. In 2008 in the experimental field of the Institute are made simple right and reciprocal varietals crosses and studied hybrid combinations of type ssp. arvense × ssp. sativum. For sexual hybridization were used varieties: Kerpo spring forage pea, Mir and Pleven 10 winter forage pea. By applying a method of population ramsch combined with selection were nominated winter pea genotypes. They have improved properties compared to baseline varieties to winter hardiness, height, degree of lodging, splitting of pods, number of pods and weight of seeds per plant. Hybrid combination Kerpo × Mir in greatest cover in the direction of selection criteria for grain and reciprocal Mir × Kerpo is appropriate in the direction of green mass. As a result of hybridization between varieties Mir × Kerpo genotype 5/25/5 was obtained combining two signs – black color of hilum and non colored seed coat. The implementation of the selection program continues to stabilize the desired characteristics in subsequent generations and create a new variety.
