In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was analysed the variability of plant moisture status of Thuja occidentalis forms depending on the environment factors and there was determined the possibility of their use as an examination criterion for the evaluation of adaptive capability of plants. There was studied the intensity of transpiration, plant moisture, water-retaining capacity, water return and water deficit of different cultivars of Thuja occidentalis (Globosa, Albospicata, Ericoides, Columnaris, Lutea, Rheingold) in the conditions of Vitebsk city (Belarus) grown on sod-podzolic sandy loam soil. Daily and seasonal dynamics of water regime parameters were shown. Transpiration intensity was 402,4 mg/hour of water per 1 gram of raw matter, plant moisture is 67,9 %, water deficit was 7,4%. There was marked a number of peculiarities in the water regime of Ericoides cultivar. Morphological features of assimilatory organs of Thuja occidentalis of Ericoides form mark out this cultivar with the least transpiration capacity (263,1 mg/hour of water per 1 gram of dry matter). The maximal plant moisture content was stated for Albospicata cultivar, minimal – for Columnaris and Ericoides (63,0-64,7%).
