In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was revealed influence of lead and cadmium on the character of changes of distribution of iron and manganese in organs and tissues of blue rock pigeons (Columba livia). On the basis of the obtained data it was possible to consider the level of contamination with these metals of natural or urbanized residues and evaluate the possibilities of indication use of birds for the biological monitoring of the environment. The analysis of iron and manganese distribution changes (the elements actively participating in processes of a metabolism and ability to live) in blue rock pigeons bodies and fabrics in experimental conditions of lead and cadmium stressful influence is spent. By comparison with birds control group authentic increase of iron concentration in skeletal muscles and feathers is revealed; manganese - in skeletal muscles; reduction of the iron maintenance - in heart, liver and kidneys, manganese - in heart, and also both elements in birds excrements.
