In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there were presented the results of the purposeful long-term selection work on long fiber flax (Linum usitatissimum) at Mogilev Regional Agricultural Experiment Station of the National Academy of Science of Belarus. In course of the study there were analysed the methods of creation of the initial material and ways of growing of highly-productive varieties of long-fibred flax of various ripeness groups with high content and quality of fibre. According to the results of the long-term study of a collection of the best samples of long-fibred flax there were singled out and used as the sources of economically-valuable indicators in the selection for such qualities as early ripeness, straw and fibre capacity and productivity, the quality of the fibre, resistance to diseases and lodging.
