A field trial was carried out during 2008-2009 to compare the growth and yield response of whole and cut tubers. Different sized tubers were used for sowing potato crop cv. Diamant. Five planting treatments (T1 = 100 g tuber cut into three pieces (untreated); T2 = 100 g tuber cut into three pieces (treated with Dithane M-45); T3 = 50 g tuber cut into two pieces (treated with Dithane M-45); T4 = 60-80 mm whole tuber (treated with Dithane M-45); T5 = 80-00 mm whole untreated tuber.) were included in this experiment. Sowing was done on October 18, 2009. Growth, yield and tuber quality of potato plants obtained from whole tubers (80-100 mm) significantly increased. The highest tuber yield was recorded from treatment T2. The present studies showed positive response of plant growth and yield to sowing of whole tubers.
