In Slovenia there are still a lot of soil and contact herbicides to control weeds in maize although there is a ban of some a.i. on water restricted areas. Soil herbicides are very dependent on moisture content in the soil. The exception is only Merlin, which can store its efficacy for a long period. Merlin is systemic soil herbicide to control the majority of annual broad leaf and some grass weeds
