Maize (Zea mays) appears one of the most important agricultural cultivars in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus, characterized with high productivity and seed value. Maize seeds possess different qualitative and quantitative characteristics, influencing crop yield and efficiency of cultivar's producing. Evaluation of potential productivity of a crop and research of a group of maturation of the maize, most suitable for seed cultivation appears the most essential challenge of agricultural science. The results of three-year researches on the evaluation of productivity of maize hybrids of western breeding in the central part of Belarus are presented in the article. In the process of cultivation for grain the optimum maturity group is identified. Correlations between yield and parameters influencing it (seed germination, plant height, dry matter content, length of the period from shoots to ear flowering, resistance to lodging, affecting by corn smut) are revealed. General factors, influencing crop yield and germinating ability of the seeds are enumerated and arranged, the most essential suggestions, concerned to seed quality increase are presented.
