In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there were presented results of study of chemical composition of bulbs of winter and spring garlic (Allium sativum L.) clones for the selection of the best ones for winter and frost resistance. According to the results of three-year study it was stated that among spring garlic samples clone 517 showed the maximum content of dry matter after harvesting and ripening. Bulbs of clones 515, 517 and 518 contained the highest amount of vitamin C. In the process of storage there were marked changes in chemical composition of bulbs of the studied samples. Clone 517 contained the highest amount of dry matter and ascorbic acid at the end of storage. Clone 0802 was marked as the best example of winter garlic because its bulbs had the highest content of dry matter (42.1%) and ascorbic acid (11.4 mg%).
