Selenium content in plants depends on many factors: soil type, its acid-alkaline balance, selenium content in soil, biological peculiarities and plant growth phase, hydrothermic factors of vegetation and others. Importance of selenium for feed production is rather high, deficit of this micro nutrient leads to serious animal diseases and decline of animal production quality. Therefore, development of special technology connected with enrichment of feeds with selenium appears a serious problem for agricultural science. Working-out of the parameters of selenium accumulation in perennial grasses for the forecasting of selenium content in dry hay for animal feeding during application of selenium fertilizer appears the main goal of the presented research. Due to the long-term field experiments on sod-podzol loamy and sandy soils the efficiency of application of selenium fertilizer in dozes of 100, 200 and 300 g Se/ha is studied when growing perennial grasses. The most important parameters of selenium accumulation are developed; prognosis of selenium accumulation in hay of grasses is made.
